Before we left, a good friend of mine and I were texting back and forth about the first time that I would meet our son. My friend Jodi has a little boy Ames that is adopted from Ethiopia. In one of our texts back and forth that night she said to me that our first time meeting would be "surreal yet feel so comfortable and normal." I agreed with her. It would feel surreal because we had never met our son but it would feel so comfortable and normal because he IS our son and I already feel like I know him and love him with an incredibly big love.
At 2:30 Ethiopian time today, we MET our SON!! Words can't ever express the way that we felt today. It was unbelievable! It really was so surreal yet so comfortable and normal. He did really well with us and warmed up so sweetly. We gave him little suckers and he loved that. We played ball with him, held him in our arms, gave him lots of kisses, and he even fell asleep on my shoulder while swinging on the swing. Once we have officially adopted him, we will post pictures and video of that sweet meeting.
Jane's House, the home that he has been living in since he was 5 months old, is a wonderful home. We are so grateful for the love of the staff and the hard work that they do taking care of our kiddos. There are 19 children living there and everyone of them seems very happy and healthy! Thank you AAI and Jane's House for loving our kids.
In the days ahead, we look forward to getting to know our little man and the beautiful country of Ethiopia!
Stayed tuned for more…
