A couple weeks ago, Jud was asked by his old boss to do program at a Young Life family camp on Labor Day weekend. After he got off the phone with Jay he turned to me and asked…"So, what do you think, should we do it?" Without hesitation I said, ""ABSOLUTELY!" Although it has been years since Jud and I have been involved in YL, the ministry holds such a special place in our hearts. Some of our fondest memories in the ministry were with Young Life and the kids that we were able to build relationships with.
So…we packed the van and headed on a five hour drive to Lake City, Michigan!
If you have never experienced a Young Life camp…it is a MUST in your lifetime! They have over 13 camps throughout America and each and every one is INCREDIBLE and absolutely beautiful! This camp is fairly new and when we were on staff, Jud spent a summer here doing the exact thing that he did this past weekend…entertaining and making people laugh!
Enjoying the beautiful weather!
Climbing on the big wheel
Running through the entire property is a beautiful creek that the kids loved playing in.
Playing out on the lawn!
So…this is what program is all about! Crazy characters with crazy ideas making for a crazy funny time! These crazies posed as "wanna be" olympians. They tried the entire weekend to prove worthy for the 2016 games and hilariously failed every time. But, in the end they redeemed themselves through their beautiful rhythmic gymnastics routine…wish you all could have seen that one:)
The kids and I at Club.
Fynn, Ferb, and Perry with a "P" were the Lake City Lugnuts. These were the other crazy funny guys that entertained us the whole weekend…"Built it!"
It was so fun to watch the kids watch their daddy. Jud is so good at what he does! He is super talented when it comes to being up on stage and performing! I am so thankful that we had this opportunity and I hope that there is more to come:)
Field games
The kids loved trying all the new activities…kayaking for the first time!
Timber Carts!
Tubing…that didn't go over so well:)
Hoe-down night!
Jud's old boss was Jay Miles. Our families have kind of lost touch over the years but, it was so nice to be together again and catch up. They have two adorable little girls…Naomi is 8 and Jordan is 5. Aliyana loved being with the them and we all had a blast together at camp!
It is funny how God works! Prior to being asked to camp, Jud had been meeting with the Young Life staff in the Elmhurst area to help encourage him and to start building a team of people to help the area with financial stability. This same guy, Matt Kelly, was up at camp doing program with Jud and Jay. We always knew that God would bring us back to Young Life in some way and we see God beginning to open those doors. We are filled with Joy knowing that God has great things in store for our family!
